As expected, the Mavs have waived non-guaranteed center Jake Voskuhl, a move that gets Dallas down to the NBA maximum of 15 roster members.
That group, of course, includes Shawne Williams, who has a guaranteed contract but has not been invited to be with the team. The Mavs will continue to pursue trade options involving Williams. Meanwhile, the 6-11, 255-pound Voskuhl – who signed with Dallas as a free agent on September 28 after spending last season with the Raptors – may have an opportunity to play in Phoenix. The Suns are in search of an extra center and Voskuhl, a former Sun, has a home in the Phoenix area.
While with the Mavs, Houston native Voskuhl participated in five preseason games and averaged 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists in 9.2 minutes per game.
