Dear Fox, Burger King, NFL, Jessica Simpson And Cowboys: Yes, My Cartoons Are Worth A Whopper

Mike Fisher -- DB.com

The other day I ripped The NFL, Fox and Burger King for that hacky cartoon aired on the network’s Sunday pregame show. I said it wasn’t funny, wasn’t timely and wasn’t well-crafted in any way.

I received correspondence from a reader who apparently found humor in the lame Jessica Simpson jokes, the dopey depiction of Cowboys personalities and the amateurish artwork. Wrote the reader:

“Fisher, you are a typical over-sensitive Cowboys fan. Don’t criticize (the cartoon) unless you can do better. You think you can do better?’’

Well, Dear Reader and art aficionado. … yes. Yes, I think I can do better. But click in, and you be the judge.

At upper left is how they draw over at Fox.

I don’t mean to brag … but see at right? It took me about 16 minutes total to sketch out these caricatures of Wade, Romo and Barber.

I’m assuming The NFL/Fox/Burger King is paying some team of professionals the big bucks to execute what I just did while I was dicking around this morning ... in a total of 16 minutes … and for free.

It turns out, Fox and Burger King aren’t too proud of their work, either. An apology has been issued.

And indeed, as I said the other day, I think Jessica Simpson-Cowboys jokes are pop-culture passé. I know better than to put the players’ names on the front of their jerseys (as does any third-grader with a crayon). And last time I looked, Tony Romo isn’t No. 13.

Plus, unlike whoever is behind this project, I can draw a little.

Sixteen minutes of work. I did it free of charge and I can do the same for Fox and Burger King. Or, better yet, y’all can pay me in Whoppers.

Hey, NFL/Fox/Burger King. … call me!
